Dragos Bucur and Cristina Flutur, together in the Communist Romania

Actoriedefilm.ro Company with the support of Centrul National al Cinematografiei (CNC) has the pleasure to announce the filming of ‘Uruguay’, the next film of Jesús del Cerro.

URUGUAY, is the seventh film of the Spanish director and producer Jesús del Cerro. It is a multigenerational story set in the Communist Romania of Nicolae Ceausescu. The film revolves around the life of Andrei and his family, a working and humble family of Bucharest. Filming began on 2 February 2016 and will be held in Bucharest, Romania and in Canarias, Spain.

Dragos will act and produce ‘Uruguay’ with the director, producer and screenwriter Jesus del Cerro. Dragos Bucur (Andrei) and Cristina Flutur (Ioana), will play the main characters of the story. The script is co-written with Manuel Feijoo, Beatriz Gonzalez Cruz and Ruxandra Ghiţescu.

DRAGOS BUCUR (Andrei) is one of Romania’s most recognized actors, having participated in more than thirty films and has received two Best Actor Award GOPO, the Best Actor Award BAFIC, three Best Actor Award UCIN and the “Timica” Prize in the Young Actor Gala. Dragos also work with the director as producer. He has produced several films like ‘2 luzuri’ or ‘Alt Love Building’. Also he works in a lot of international productions like ‘The Way Back’ directed by Peter Weir and ‘Wallander’ with Kenneth Branagh.

CRISTINA FLUTUR (Iona) made an extraordinary debut at ‘Beyond the Hills’ as Alina Ringhis in 2012. For her role in this film, she won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival 2012.

JESÚS DEL CERRO (Director) is a Spanish director and film producer based in Madrid and Bucharest. His previous work includes ‘Nasa’, Romania’s highest grossing film of 2012 winner of an Audience Award GOPO; ‘Carlitos y el Campo de los Sueños’ winner of Best Film Award and Audience Award at Giffoni Film Festival (one of the most important children’s film festivals); ‘Ho Ho Ho’; ‘Sa Furat Mireasa’ (‘Have Stolen the Bride’) written by Toni Grecu; ‘Contra Timp’; ‘The Godmother’; and the tv series ‘One Step Ahead’ and ‘Médico de familia’ (‘Family Doctor’), among others.

Sinopsis: The story set in 1988 in the Communist Romania of Nicolae Ceaucescu, one of the bloodiest dictatorships in the Soviet bloc countries. Andrei and his family live in Bucharest, in a small apartment owned by the Government. Every day Vasile, Andrei`s father, waits for a message but there is nothing for him until one day the family receives a letter from the embassy of the Uruguay… Is this the message that Vasile was waiting for?
